Comment to this entry and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Dark Angel
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
A show by James Cameron intrigued me and I always love stories about post-Apocalypse Earth. The pilot grabbed me and I was hooked. I wasn't a large fan of Season 2 but I stayed with it because I liked the character of Max and wanted to see her journey. I didn't get into participating in fandom much until after it was cancelled. I didn’t even write my first fic until then. I wanted to continue the story of Max and how they fought their battles to be accepted by the 'normals'.

2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I will probably always have a toe in this fandom. It might be a while in between doing anything with it but I will always come back to the story of Max.

3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
The books suck. Hugely. Badly written fanfic and I so ignore them. Okay rant over. :P Obviously, I don't have a favorite book but my favorite episodes are Prodigy where Max comes face to face with Lydecker trying to save a kid. Pollo Loco where Max and Ben are reunited with tragic consequences. Freak Nation, the final episode directed by James Cameron.

4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
I write fanfiction and I used to be in prompt communities with Max but the prompts weren't inspiring so I just stayed with role playing her in [livejournal.com profile] hearts_andminds

5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
I think there is always room for more people in fandoms.

Buffy
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
Believe it or not I wasn't going to watch it. I saw the previews for it and I thought it looked stupid. Plus, it had that dorky old guy from the stupid coffee commercials. :P I was bored one day, nothing else was on and I was tired of my friends telling me to watch Buffy I'd like it. Just to shut them the hell up, I turned it on. I thought it was hilarious. Joss' writing captured me and I was a gonner. I even liked Giles. :P Go figure. Buffy didn't capture me immediately. In fact, I wasn't sure I liked her but I adored Xander and Willow. Then Buffy slowly grew on me and I haven't looked back.

2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I'll always stay in the fandom. I might not always participate but Joss' world will always hold a draw for me. I even get all the comics. :D

3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
I don't read the books. *shudder* I do read the comics though and my favorite story arc so far is the No Future For You with Faith. It deals with Buffy's issues with Faith and Giles and whoah baby does she have issues. My favorite episodes are not S6&7 I can tell you that. Ugh. Anyway…. I'll just narrow it down to the ones where Buffy is just a girl. S1: Prophecy Girl. Where she learns she will die fighting the Master and doesn't want to die. S2: Innocence. Angel becomes Angelus and Buffy has to deal with it. S3: Bad Girls where she hangs with Faith and Faith accidentally kills someone. S4: Hush! The best episode ever imho. Buffy finally comes clean with Riley S5: The Body: SMG and MT did an excellent job dealing with the death of a parent. The Gift Buffy sacrifices herself for Dawn.

4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Boy howdy do I. I write fanfic, I role play, I introduce people to it. I'm the cheerleader for Buffy world. :P

5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
See above. Cheerleader I tell you. Rah, rah, rah!

Dresden Files
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
I never heard of Dresden Files until a show appeared on Sci Fi. I watched said show for an episode. I turned said show off with a shudder though I adored Bob. Saw the books, thought ugh since the show didn't do anything for me. [livejournal.com profile] kaliopemuse shoved the book Storm Front under my nose and said read it. You'll like it. I ignored her, then one day picked it up. She was right. I adored it. A thousand times better than the show. No offense to those that like the show. Harry was a witty smart ass and he got his ass beat. It had the wit of Joss and the supernatural, what more could you say. I devoured them after that. So you can all blame Lisa for my Dresden obsession. :P

2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
Hmm interesting. I'm not sure. I'll probably stay in the fandom as in read all of his Dresden books and probably continue to write fanfiction. Will I when he stops writing? Not sure.

3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
By far my favorite books are Blood Rites and White Night. I love the Raiths and these showed more of the white Court vampires. Plus they had a bit of Margaret in it. You learned more and more about her.

4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Eh, not really. I mean I write fanfiction for prompt communities. I role play in H&M but as for discussions and such not really.

5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
Yep, yep I do.

I love when I decide I'm going to hate something and I sit down and I like it. I've also found that if I decide things are going to be horrible, the end result is always good. Either I'm right or pleasantly surprised.

I notice between my writer and artist friends, the responses about 5 are way different. Writers are like, "Yay, more fans!" Artists are like, "Boo! God no!" But writers tend to attract more intelligent fans while any jackass can fap off to a picture.

I love it when that happens. Pleasant surprises. I like that much more than the ones where you are expecting great and it turns into crap. Unfortunately, that's more times than I'd like to admit.

*dies laughing* Oh I will not go into the horrible Mary Sue/Gary Stu fanfics out there that make you want to spork out your eyeballs. You're right though, on the whole, the writers that stay with a fandom rather than the oooo shiny flash in the pan are intelligent writers.

There have been a few that I've want to point and say "You! Out of my fandom!"

That's what I was hoping with Terminator. It would be an apology for T3. I were wrong. But then I was all, "Star Trek is gonna be poooooooooo" just for the purpose of hopefully being impressed by it.

Oh god, nothing like emails from people telling you how your art inspired them to write the most horrible fanfic in existence. "COME READ IT WHY DON'T YOU! Look, I credited you, aren't you happy?!"

":D ....Uh huh...."

Writers have more trouble with the obligatory matriarch. The older fangirl / fanboy that takes over the fandom and rules it with an iron fist, and makes sure she will know anything and everything about it.

*g* You almost got a response from Kyra instead of me. Oops

Yes, omg yes. We do have that in writer fandom. *head desk* The expert! I avoid them with a ten foot pole. They have their army of supporters like the Wicked Witch of the East. Fly my monkeys, fly!

And heaven forbid if you go against one of their pet shitty writer / artists, even in saying you disapprove behind a livejournal cut.

And because I like to tell people when their characters are getting talked about, Data told Five about Ro here. Also witness making the legendary Typo #21 : First letter of word leads Binky to type wrong word in action.
